I got up early to day to meet my 4-H clubs at the local elementary school. My kids are in the Honor Club which is for older students, but I volunteer to meet 3 4th grade clubs each month. It is not hard, the UT Extenstion agents prepare all the materials and provide me with the lesson plan and supplies. It is fun to spend 3 hrs with these students and inspire them to be apart of 4-H.
This month Aaron and Rachael helped me. Rachael discussed the upcoming contests: public speaking and posters, while Aaron introduced the Chick Chain poultry project. Then I performed a science experiement using polymers. It was pretty cool.
With the holidays right around the corner there will be many more opportunities to volunteer. Chose one and do it. Our family will be serving Thanksgiving dinner to 600+ hungry people in our county. It is so rewarding to know that the couple of hours of work we put in will feed and cheer families thoughout the county on that day. We do it on Xmas too.
