Sheep skin rugs part 4

Chemicals arrived, so Rachael moved on to the next step, Pickling.  According to the directions, the pelts are dehydrated with a solution of

  • water
  • acid- we are using citric acid
  • salt

The pelts are to be in the solution for 72 hours.  Then the acid will be nutralized with backing soda/ water.  I bought several pounds of baking soda on our last trip to Sam’s, as it was much cheaper than ordering it on-line and I did not have to pay shipping.
