“Threads of Grace” A Patch of Heaven novel #3 by Kelly Long, book review
Grace was married off to an older wealthy Amish man at a young age to save her family’s farm. Silas was cruel and a loveless marriage resulted. But when Silas dies she is suddenly free. In a desparate act she takes her autistic son, Abel, and flees to Pine Creek. But trouble follows her in the form of her brother-in-law who has some legal rights to her if she does not marry within 6 months of her husband’s death. And the clock is ticking.
Seth has admired Grace since she moved into his community, but he can’t seem to catch her attention. When she has an accident in the garden and Seth comes to help her, he learns of the 6 month deadline that is quickly approaching. So, he offers to marry Grace. In a hasty Amish ceremony, they are married. But now each must learn to forgive and give grace to the other.
This is the 3rd book in the series and it has some of the same characters as the 1st 2 books, but can stand alone as well. It is very easy to read, but with good character development and attention to detail. There is some references to quilting, although not as much as other books. Great for a snowy afternoon by the fire.
