“Watch for the Light” Readings for Advent and Christmas, book review

Christmas is a special time of year, filled with family, fun and activities. This book helps to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas and Advent. Divided into daily readings, the essays in this book bring various Christian perspectives on Advent and Christmas. The readings vary in length from 2 pages to 12. And the authors are a mix of modern, ancient and in between. This would be a nice accompaniment to your Bible readings or other devotional materials during the Advent time. Or it could be used during family devotions time for families with older elementary children.

I was challenged by the readings and many of the ideas expressed stayed in my mind for several days. I wish the author had included at least a short biography of each other, as some were unfamiliar to me. While I did take time to look most of the up on the computer, it would have been easier if it was in the introduction of the essay.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher, Plough, Inc. All opinions expressed are my own.
