“In Her Kitchen” by Gabriele Galimberti, book review

“In Her Kitchen” Stories and Recipes from Grandmas Around the world, by Gabriele Galimberti

Everyone has a recipe that their grandma made that brings back those special memories of her kitchen. For me, it was angel food cake with pink icing for my birthday, every year. It was always the same and always wonderful.

Author Gabriele Galimberti has traveled the globe in search of grandmas and their recipes. This book is has wonderful recipes and pictures to inspire even the beginning cook. Each grandma is pictured in her kitchen with all the recipe ingredients artfully arranged on the work table, with a picture of the finished dish on the opposite page. The following page has a short biography and the recipe with directions. Most of the dishes are just everyday fare of that family and region. While a few of the ingredients might be tricky to find in the US, most are using simple ingredients.

This book would be lovely on the coffee table or displayed on the kitchen counter. It would make a great gift for the world traveler or mission minded cook.
