“The New American Herbal” by Stephen Orr, book review
This book is a gorgeous collection of all the information you could ever want about herbs and spices. Each herb is detailed with info about history, use and pictures. In addition, there is general instructions on the various uses of herbs including drying, cooking and using in oils and vinegars. This really could be a coffee table book because of the incredible photographs of all the herbs and plants.
“The New American Herbal” would be a great book for those interested in knowing more about where their food comes from and how to use it. Or for the cook looking to incorporate more fresh herbs in her cooking and baking. While there is limited info about growing the herbs, it does contain enough info for the back yard gardener to successfully add herbs to his next garden. Or for the beginning gardener who wants something a little different than the regular basil and parsley.
