“You Carried Me: A Daughter’s memoir” by Melissa Ohden, book review
This book is a very heart felt story of the journey of her own life, which begins with her birth- which was supposed to be the day of her death. Her mother attempted to abort her, but she was born alive and saved by a caring nurse. She was adopted and raised in a loving home.
The author tells her story. It is full of feeling and emotions. She learns the truth of her birth at age 14, and begins a journey to locate her birth parents. After years of searching, she is finally rewarded with answers to many of her long held questions.
I enjoyed this book. I was not sure what to expect when I started it, but was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to read and the story moved at a steady pace. The author shared many significant details of her life and was very honest. I would suggest this book for anyone who wants to learn more about abortion, adoption and the difficult choices many women face.
