“The One True Love of Alice-Ann” by Eva Marie Emerson, book review
December 7, 1941.
Alice-Ann has been counting down the days until her 16th birthday for weeks. But now the party and her life is ruined! Why did the Japs have to bomb today? How can she make Mak understand that he is the one for her if he enlists before she can declare herself. Life is just a mess.
So begins this story of Alice-Ann’s coming of age during WWII. She lives on a farm in rural Georgia, far from the front lines of the way. But along with all Americans, her family is impacted in so many ways.
I really enjoyed this story. It shares many day to day details of family life during the war. No glamour here, just hard working people trying to support their family and their county. Great read!!
